The short version
- We don't run servers for the app. Plus One has no account system, and we never receive your workouts or health data.
- No ads, analytics or tracking in the app. The app contains no third-party SDKs and doesn't track you across apps or websites. This website uses privacy-friendly, cookie-free analytics.
- Apple Health data stays on your iPhone. It is never sold, never used for advertising or marketing, and never shared with third parties.
- Your training log syncs only through your own iCloud, and you can turn that off.
- You can erase everything from inside the app at any time.
Who we are
Plus One ("Plus One", "we", "us") is a workout tracking app for iPhone and Apple Watch, developed by Rajesh Kumar Madhavan. This policy covers the Plus One app (including its Apple Watch app, widgets and Live Activities) and the website at plusonelifts.com.
Data the app uses and where it's stored
Plus One works on your device. Everything below is created by you or read from Apple Health with your permission, and stays in the places listed. None of it is sent to us.
| Data | Examples | Where it's stored |
|---|---|---|
| Training log | Exercises (including custom ones), routines, programs, workouts, sets, weights, reps, how a lift felt, and notes you write | On your iPhone. If Sync with iCloud is on, also in your private iCloud database. |
| Profile and preferences | The name you choose to be greeted by, your goal, lifting experience, units, body map style (used only for muscle illustrations), sleep and step goals, schedule, and the equipment at each place you train | On your iPhone. If Sync with iCloud is on, also in your iCloud key-value storage. |
| Workout health details | Average and peak heart rate, time in heart-rate zones, heart-rate recovery between sets, active energy, and effort rating for each workout | Only on the iPhone that recorded it. Never synced to iCloud. |
| Apple Health data | Sleep, heart rate variability, resting heart rate and the other types listed below | Stays in Apple Health. Plus One reads it when needed and keeps it in memory, not in its own database. |
Rest-timer alerts and Live Activities are created on your device. Plus One does not send push notifications from any server. Data moves between your iPhone and Apple Watch directly, using Apple's frameworks.
Apple Health (HealthKit)
Connecting Apple Health is optional, and Plus One works without it. If you allow access, Plus One uses the types you approve as follows.
What Plus One reads, and why
- Sleep analysis (about the last two weeks): your sleep score, and the sleep part of your recovery score.
- Heart rate variability, resting heart rate, breathing rate and sleeping wrist temperature (about the last month): your recovery score and early signs of an off day, compared with your own recent average.
- Heart rate and active energy: showing heart rate, heart-rate zones and calories for your workouts.
- Cardio fitness (VO2 max): shown on your recovery screen.
- Body weight (about the last year): your weight trend, bodyweight and assisted exercises, and estimating calories for workouts without Apple Watch.
- Steps (about the last two months): your steps card and step goal.
- Workouts and workout effort: matching your Plus One workouts to the ones saved in Health.
- Date of birth: estimating your maximum heart rate for heart-rate zones. Only your age is used.
What Plus One writes, and why
- Strength training workouts with their duration, and on iPhone an active energy estimate based on your body weight. On Apple Watch, the workout also records heart rate and active energy.
- Workout effort (1 to 10), when you rate how hard a workout felt.
- Body weight, when you log a weigh-in in Plus One.
Our commitments for health data
- We do not sell health data, or any other data.
- We do not use health data for advertising, marketing or data mining.
- We do not share health data with any third party. If that ever changed, we would ask for your explicit consent first.
- Plus One does not store health data in iCloud. Health details for each workout stay on the iPhone that recorded them.
- Health data never leaves your devices to reach us, so we cannot see it.
You can change or revoke access at any time in the Health app: tap your profile picture, then Apps, then Plus One. Apple Health may sync your health data between your own devices through iCloud according to your Health settings; that's controlled by Apple and you, not by Plus One.
iCloud sync
With Sync with iCloud on (the default), Plus One uses Apple's CloudKit to store your training log in the private database of your iCloud account, and iCloud key-value storage for your profile and preferences. This lets your data move to a new iPhone and stay in step across devices. Private iCloud data belongs to your Apple Account: we can't access it, and Apple stores it under the Apple Privacy Policy. You can turn sync off in Plus One's Settings, and the app then keeps everything on your iPhone only.
Information Apple may share with us
Plus One contains no analytics or crash-reporting code. Apple, however, provides developers with some information through App Store Connect:
- Beta testing (TestFlight): feedback and screenshots you choose to send, crash reports, and details such as device model, iOS version and how often the beta is used. Depending on how you were invited, this may include the name and email address you joined with. Apple's TestFlight terms govern this.
- App Store analytics: if you've chosen to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone's settings, Apple may share crash reports and aggregated usage statistics with us.
We use this information only to fix bugs and improve Plus One.
Purchases and subscriptions
Plus One is free during the beta. If we offer in-app purchases or subscriptions in the future, Apple will process them through your Apple Account. We never receive your payment details. Apple tells the app whether a purchase is active so it can unlock features, and we may see sales reports from Apple that do not identify you.
This website
- Hosting: plusonelifts.com is hosted by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical information such as your IP address and browser type to deliver and protect the site. The animation library on our home page is also served from Cloudflare's cdnjs.
- Analytics: we use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand how the site is used and how quickly it loads. It records information such as the pages viewed, the site that referred you, your browser and device type, your country, and page performance. It does not use cookies or local storage, does not fingerprint your device, and does not track you across other websites. We see only aggregated reports, and we don't use this information for advertising.
- Cookies: we don't set cookies. Cloudflare may set strictly necessary security cookies to protect the site from bots and abusive traffic. We use no advertising tools, and fonts are served from our own domain.
- Launch updates: if you sign up for updates, your email address is collected through Formspree, a form service, and used only to email you about Plus One's launch and major updates. We don't share it or sell it. You can unsubscribe through any of those emails or by emailing raj@plusonelifts.com.
- Emails to us: if you email support, we use your message and address only to help you.
Deleting your data
- Everything in Plus One: open Settings in the app and tap Erase all data. This deletes your workouts, routines and settings from your iPhone and, if sync is on, from iCloud and every device signed in to it.
- Deleting the app removes the data on that iPhone. Your iCloud copy remains so you can restore it, unless you use Erase all data first.
- Apple Health: workouts and weigh-ins Plus One saved to Health stay there until you delete them in the Health app.
- Launch updates list: unsubscribe from any email, or ask us at raj@plusonelifts.com and we'll remove your address.
How long we keep data
Data in the app stays on your devices and in your iCloud until you delete it. We keep launch-update email addresses until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove them, and support emails only as long as needed to help you.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal data, or to object to how it's used. Because app data stays on your devices and in your own iCloud, you can view and delete it directly. For anything we hold, such as your email address on the updates list, email raj@plusonelifts.com and we'll respond within 30 days. You can also contact your local data protection authority.
Children
Plus One is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Security
Your data is protected by your iPhone's built-in encryption and by Apple's iCloud security. Health data stays in Apple Health and in Plus One's on-device storage. Because we don't operate servers for the app, there's no Plus One database of user data that could be breached.
Changes to this policy
If we change how Plus One handles data, for example by adding paid features or new services, we'll update this page and the effective date above, and point out significant changes in the app or on this site before they take effect.
